43rd Tome Giveaway, Book Club, and Arizona Gives Day!

Happy 43rd book giveaway! To celebrate Women’s History Month, we hid 30 copies of My Side of the River by Elizabeth Camarillo Gutierrez last weekend. This book was the perfect read for March – we were so excited to celebrate a strong woman who spent her childhood in Tucson and has written a compelling memoir documenting her experience making her way through high school as an unaccompanied youth (and was supported by our very own Youth on Their Own!). And, to make it extra special, our Solutions-Focused Community Book Club will be discussing this book on April 10th from 5:30-7:30 at the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona! You can learn more and RSVP here – we would LOVE to see you there!

If you’re new here and didn’t get a chance to find a book last Sunday, some of our amazing guest gnomes will be hiding an additional 15 books of this month’s selection (on top of the 30) around Tucson over the next week or two. So keep your eyes peeled, as 15 more copies of My Side of the River will be hidden around town! We do not post any hint photos of these books, as they are truly meant to be a random act of kindness for those who happen upon them. Yay for random bookish joy and delight!

AND, we can’t forget to thank this month’s Community Kindness Sponsor, The Tucson Spotlight! We are so grateful to them for helping to offset the cost of the extra 15 books we will be hiding this month ❤

Like all of our book selections so far this year, April’s selection will be topical and appropriate for the changing times… So keep an eye out here, on Instagram, and on our Facebook page for updates.

Finally, don’t forget! Arizona Gives Day is right around the corner on April 1, 2025. If you want to help us get a head start on fundraising for 2026 (LOL, it will be here before we know it), please consider making a donation here: https://www.azgives.org/organization/Tucson-Tome-Gnome
