As you all know, we participated in just a few (LOL) events last weekend! We wanted to hop on and give a quick recap of those events and also share a big shoutout of thanks to The Daily Wildcat for featuring us earlier this month 🙂
But, first things first: Last Saturday night, we attended the Reveille Men’s Chorus’ winter premiere of their “Season’s Screenings” show. IT WAS SO FUN. If you’ve never been to one of their performances, it’s definitely a “must-do” in Tucson. It’s truly one of the most joyful and fun events in town. And the winner of our first $100+ donation raffle (Kathy Wilson!) was able to join us as well with her guest! Humor, hugs, and community abound ❤

Then, on Sunday morning, the three gnomes were up bright and early to hide books in partnership with Discover Marana! We hid books all over Marana at various local business and community art installations. We learned about so many very cool places in Marana! Hopefully you had a chance to follow along on the book hunt that morning, but if not, here are some photos (below) from our tour of Marana. HUGE thanks to our friends at Discover Marana for sponsoring that special community book hiding 🙂

AND THEN, as though we didn’t have enough to do on Sunday, two of the gnomes (Jody and Emily) attended the Chapter One Event (Sneak Peek!) for the Tucson Festival of Books, where we got to see and meet Shelby Van Pelt and get our copy of Remarkably Bright Creatures signed by her! Our good friend Jeaiza was in conversation with Shelby, and it was AMAZING. For those of you who may not know, Emily & Jody are on the Book & Author Committee for the festival (so, we get to select, invite, and work with many of the authors who end up joining us in Tucson!), and all three of the gnomes will be moderating some of the authors panels at the festival this year. So, stay tuned – the festival schedule will be coming out soon, and we are SO EXCITED!

Finally, while all of this was happening, we realized that The Daily Wildcat released a lovely piece about us on Friday, December 1. We interviewed with Andrea Campos not too long ago, so it was so great to see the absolutely fabulous piece she ended up pulling together about us and our work. Emily is an alum of the University of Arizona (MA from the School of Government & Public Policy), so this was a lovely serendipitous opportunity to support the UA of students who produce some really great news pieces for the UA community.
