Twenty-Seventh Tome Giveaway

Happy Thanksgiving, happy long weekend (for those who get to enjoy a day or two off from work), and happy weekend of escapist reading, for those who celebrate 🙂

During this twenty-seventh book giveaway, I had a wonderful day hiding 30 copies of Night of the Living Rez by Morgan Talty all over Tucson! This month’s book was selected for Native American Heritage month. I like to focus my reading this month on not only reflecting on the injustices committed against indigenous communities, but I also want to learn and pay tribute to the ancestry and traditions of these communities, which have so often been ignored in mainstream media.

The weather was so beautiful on Sunday morning (oh my gosh, it finally felt like “winter” Tucson – did you all see that crazy fog?!?!). Since I spent a lot of time on the far-west side last month, I decided it was the perfect day to head deeper into the east side (all the way out to Agua Caliente, Civano, and Saguaro National Park East!). I also ventured down to several parks in South Tucson, as that’s a part of town we don’t often get down to enough. I hope our east-side and south-side friends were able to snag some of these hidden tomes!

Which reminds me: If you have ideas for specific locations that I could add to our location list for future book hiding days, please leave a comment on this post or send me an email (tucsontomegnome[at]gmail{dot]com). I focus on hiding at or near local businesses, public art (including sculptures and murals), and parks.

And my usual note applies: If you’re new here and didn’t get a chance to find a book on Sunday, I also hide an additional 15 books of each month’s selection (on top of the 30) around Tucson after the book-hiding weekend. So keep your eyes peeled over the next week or two, as 15 more copies of Night of the Living Rez will be hidden around town! I do not post any hint photos of these books, as they are truly meant to be a random act of kindness for those who happen upon them. Yay for random bookish joy and delight!

I have an amazing book already selected for December, which is the month when I am so ready for the cozy, comfortable, “wrap you up in a warm blanked with some tea (or coffee, or cocoa)” reads. I can’t wait to share it with you, so keep a lookout here, on Instagram, and on our Facebook page for updates.

And my usual note applies: don’t forget to subscribe to the blog, follow me on social media, or make a donation to help us fund our work in 2024!!! (We currently fundraising for book-hiding and book-sharing in 2024. If you can help us, we would be so grateful for your support and donations! (and if you’ve already donated, thank you so much for supporting our work!!!). Our fundraising momentum has been slowing down, so we need you now, more than ever!!! DONATE NOW! )

Here are some fun photos from my day of book hiding!
