Twenty-Sixth Tome Giveaway

Can you believe we just completed our twenty-sixth tome giveaway/book-hiding day? It’s hard to believe, but time flies when you’re having fun!

During this twenty-sixth (!!!) book giveaway, I had a wonderful day hiding 30 copies of Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead by Olga Tokarczuk, translated by Antonia Lloyd-Jones, all over Tucson! If you somehow missed the news, this month’s book hiding was done in collaboration with The American Literary Translators Association (ALTA), to help promote some of the public/community events associated with their annual conference, November 8-11, 2023. ALSO, our friends at ALTA worked with the translator (Antonia Lloyd-Jones), and she signed bookplates for all the books!

The weather was so beautiful on Sunday morning, that we decided it was the perfect day to head deeper into the west side than ever before (we went through Tucson Mountain Park, up through Gates Pass, and ended up going as far as the entrance to Saguaro National Park West!). This book has a VERY strong “it’s important to appreciate nature” theme, so hiding books at some of our favorite parks and nature preserves around town just felt right. We also hid books at several organizations around town that also partnered to support ALTA’s conference, so that was super fun, too!

If you’re new here and didn’t get a chance to find a book on Sunday, you should know that I also hide an additional 15 books of each month’s selection (on top of the 30) around Tucson after the book-hiding weekend. So keep your eyes peeled over the next week or two, as 15 more signed copies of Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead will be hidden around town! I do not post any hint photos of these books, as they are truly meant to be a random act of kindness for those who happen upon them. Yay for random bookish joy and delight!

We have an amazing book already selected for November, which is Native American/Indigenous People’s Month. We can’t wait to share it with you, so keep a lookout here, on Instagram, and on our Facebook page for updates.

And my usual note applies: don’t forget to subscribe to the blog, follow me on social media, or make a donation to help us fund our work in 2024!!! (If you missed the news, we are currently fundraising for book-hiding and book-sharing in 2024. If you can help us, we would be so grateful for your support and donations! (and if you’ve already donated, thank you so much for supporting our work!!!). Our fundraising momentum has been slowing down, so we need you now, more than ever!!! DONATE NOW! )

Here are some fun photos from my day of book hiding!
