Recap – Throwback Book Fair

We hope that many of you were able to join us this weekend for the Throwback Book Fair, but if you didn’t get a chance to come, we wanted to post a little recap of all of the wonderful throwback nostalgia!

Hosted by Trail Dust Town and Bookman’s, the event was a wonderful tribute to the book fairs that many of us probably experienced as children (as a child of the 80s and 90s, this gnome has very fond recollections of the Scholastic Book Fair – and this Throwback Book Fair checked all the boxes).

We hid a selection of 10 books all over Trail Dust Town in celebration of the fair (five of which were sponsored by Trail Dust Town – thank you!!!):

We had a few folks stop by our booth and send photos of themselves with their found books, which is always so fun for us to see:

And look at this AMAZING gnome dress (below)!!! These gnomes are huge fans 🙂 (Go give Erika a follow on Instagram, @anonymousinthecity – and, while you’re at it, follow her adorable pup, @minkerthestinker)!

The book fair was a huge success – several hundred people spent Saturday afternoon listening to great live music, enjoying a 90’s style school picture-day set-up, meeting Ms. Frizzle (honestly, who doesn’t love The Magic Schoolbus?), playing Nintendo (the original Mario!), visiting various booths hosted by local nonprofits (like us – thank you for your donations!), shopping at Bookmans, and enjoying throwback treats and drinks, including “Green Ghost Coolers.” It was a blast – huge shoutout to Trail Dust Town for hosting such a fun event! We hope they do this again (and if they do, we’re absolutely “in”) 🙂
