Recap: So many events!

Hi Folks! In the past seven days, we participated in THREE separate bookish events and had a blast at each of them! Here’s a quick photo roundup of each of the events (and so much bookish joy!):

Event 1: Bookish Hide-and-Seek at The Korean Rose (Saturday, June 17)

For our event with the Korean Rose, we selected five books (five copies of each – 25 total!) with a fun, summer-reading vibe!

We didn’t hide books this time – instead, we hid these cute little figurines! Each one corresponded to one of the books 🙂

Look at all the happy bookish people! The book-sharing table also got some good use during the event – and leftover books were donated to the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona’s Little Free Library (Dog Eared Books). Books for everyone!

More happy bookish people! Thank you to the Korean Rose for sponsoring the books that we shared at this event!

Event 2: Hiding 5 Books at the Gaymber Pride Breakfast (Thursday, June 22)

For the Gaymber Pride Breakfast, we hid five copies of the books above throughout the UA Tech Park (the breakfast host!)

“The House in the Cerulean Sea” might have been “hidden” in a fairly obvious location 🙂

And… guess who found a book? Megan Monge (a.k.a. The Tucson Localista!). Happy reading, Megan!

OF COURSE we took a cheeseball photo at the step-and-repeat.

We Need Diverse Books (enough said). If you want to learn more, check out the organization. behind this amazing t-shirt.

Event 3: Launching our “Solutions-Focused Community Book Club” (Thursday, June 22)

For our first-ever Solutions-Focused Community Book Club, we read Monica Guzman’s “I Never Thought of it That Way” – all about having fearlessly curious conversations in dangerously divided times.

About 40 people came out to chat about the book, and we had such a great discussion that I forgot to take pictures throughout the evening! But there was food! there were drinks! There was a book-sharing table! But I did get this fun photo of the co-organizers. From left to right: Jody Hardy (Tucson Tome Gnome), Mary Ellen Flynn (Tucson Tome Gnome), Caitlin Schmidt (local journalist and co-founder of the soon-to-be-launched Tucson Agenda), Jenny Flynn (President & CEO of the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona), and Emily Walsh (Tucson Tome Gnome AND the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona!)

And (just to make things super special) at the end of our event, we raffled off five copies of our next read – “The Reading List” by Sara Nisha Adams.

AND, that’s a wrap! It was definitely a busy week, but it was all worth it for a week of super-fun book joy!!! If you’re intrigued by our new Solutions-Focused Community Book Club, we hope you’ll consider joining us on Wednesday, August 9 at 5:30pm at the Community Foundation for our next meeting. We’ll be reading Sara Nisha Adam’s “The Reading List.” You can RSVP here!

Happy summer – and happy reading!
